about

A few years ago, a friend of the family committed suicide. He left a note, and then disappeared for a few days.We were all on pins and needles, hoping he didn't do it.The night we got the call that they found his body I was working on this beat, and at the same time I was kind of half watching a program on WHYY about Amelia Earhart.I was actually interrupted from my work while making this track-I heard a lot of noise and commotion from downstairs and I knew what happened without being told. So the track kind of took on this meaning for me-kind of embodying the romantic feelings of suicide and the appeal it has to people who are considering it.Amelia Earhart's legacy has that same kind of appeal to it, that whole "vanished-without-a-trace ,-what-happened-to-them" mystery.I wrote a little poem about it here.

lyrics

Amelia Earhart
I had to run away
Such a feeling
Had to fly away/ where they couldn't find me
But make sure/they knew that I went
